Troop 70 of Newtown, Connecticut is an organization for young men. In keeping with the traditions of the Scouting program, Troop 70 is managed by youth. The highest position for any youth in the Scouting program is to serve as the Senior Patrol Leader. The Senior Patrol Leader, often noted as SPL is responsible for managing the Troop, while under the guidance of a Scoutmaster. The SPL is responsible for looking after all youth leaders, communicating with the  other Adult leaders, and working to plan, manage, and run all programs and activities.

Troop 70 is currently led into action by Mark Malia, our current Senior Patrol Leader. In addition to further provide experience to his position, he attended a week long leadership training conference that has taught him many skills which allows him to be an effective and efficient leader. In addition he has leadership experience serving  as a Patrol leader for three years. With experience and dedication, our current Senior Patrol Leader is working to build a strong program for Troop 70.
